SONFlower Industries has been in operation since 1995, beginning as an educational contracting firm. The staff is
contracted in the areas of financial management, health and nutrition, personal taxes, and bookkeeping mainly in the
Travis County vicinity. SONFlower Industries is on a mission to assist families in money management and physical
wellness.
Families are engaged in a classroom setting with fun activities and games to stimulate a process of changing money-
handling practices. An understanding of money, taxes, income and how these relate individually and environmentally
will be identified. A real knowledge of earning an income and acquiring wealth will be recognized as the families
participate in each session. Teenagers who receive information about money management at home have a better
understanding over those who are only taught money skills in school.
Our purpose is to assist families as a whole in money management activities. Research in this field indicates a need and
want for financial education in America (Garman and Leech, 1996;Beldon, et. Al Russonello, Steward and
Research/Strategy/Management, 2000). The financial education of high school students appears to be minimal and
decreasing with the future economic status. According to one report from Americans for Consumer Education and
Competition 82% of students failed a basic quiz on financial literacy.
SONFlower Industries provides financial training for each member in the household to learn at the same time, while
gaining an understanding of each other’s knowledge and viewpoint about money. Therefore the family will develop a
team strategy for sound financial management.
SONFlower Industries is a Faith Based Organization that has worked with churches and other non-profit agencies for
training youth and adults covering topics including financial management, nutrition, food safety, personal grooming and
etiquette.
All instructors follow Biblical standards of instructional techniques and are qualified to work with varying age groups
from elementary students to senior citizens. These professionals have combined experience in the education and
business fields, which spans over sixty years. We have taught on college campuses, in church classrooms and
ballrooms. This team travels to schools, college campuses, major corporations, small businesses, churches and other
organizations.
